Quality Within Budget
Century Aluminum installs downspouts for Toronto homeowners whose drainage system is missing pipes, has too few outlets for the roof area, or needs a full downspout setup as part of a new eavestrough installation. Serving Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville & the GTA. Free estimates available.
A downspout is only effective if it is correctly sized, correctly positioned, and directing water far enough away from the foundation. We assess the full drainage picture before installing anything.
We install downspouts as part of a complete eavestrough setup or as a standalone addition to an existing gutter system. Every pipe is sized for the roof area it drains, positioned at the right points along the roofline, and secured to the wall with the correct brackets for your exterior cladding material.
Many GTA homes have too few downspouts for their roof footprint, causing gutters to overflow at the midpoint between outlets during heavy rain. We assess the load on each run and add downspouts where needed to balance water volume across the full eavestrough system.
A downspout in the wrong position discharges water in the wrong place. We relocate outlets away from garage doors, walkways, basement windows, and areas where ice creates hazards in winter, and redirect them to where water can safely drain away from the house, where possible.
Where the discharge point is too close to the foundation, we install rigid or flexible extensions to carry water further from the house, along with splash pads where needed to prevent soil erosion at the outlet.

Downspout diameter and the number of outlets needed depends on the total roof surface draining into each run. We calculate this before installing so the system handles peak GTA rainfall without overflowing.
We place outlets away from basement windows, entryways, and low-grade areas where water would pool near the footings. Where the grade slopes toward the house, we extend the discharge point further out.
All downspouts we install discharge onto the property surface, not into the city sewer system, in compliance with the City of Toronto's mandatory downspout disconnection bylaw. We cap any existing underground connections as part of the installation. A downspout disconnection exemption can be obtained from the City of Toronto when applicable.
Downspouts work as part of a system. We check gutter pitch, outlet placement, and ground drainage together so the whole setup directs water away from your home correctly from the first rainstorm.
Fix blocked, disconnected, or damaged downpipes already on your home.
Replace the full gutter system when downspouts and gutters both need a fresh start.
Fix leaking joints and sagging sections on the gutters your new downspouts will drain.
It depends on the length and pitch of each gutter run and the total roof area draining into it. As a general rule, most residential gutter runs need one downspout for every 30 feet of eavestrough. Longer runs, homes with complex rooflines, or properties with flat or low-pitched roofs may need more. We assess this before installing and make recommendations.
Upgraded residential downspouts in the GTA are 3×3 inches or 3×4 inches. The right size depends on the volume of water your roof sheds and the length of the gutter run. Undersized downspouts cause gutters to overflow even when clean. We specify the correct size for your roof before installation.
Away from the foundation, away from walkways and driveways where ice forms in winter, and away from your neighbour’s property when possible. The City of Toronto recommends discharging at least 4 to 6 feet from the foundation onto a permeable surface. We position every outlet to meet this requirement when possible.
Yes. Adding an outlet to an existing gutter run is straightforward when the gutter profile is in good condition. We cut the outlet, install the drop outlet fitting, and run the new downspout down the wall to the correct discharge point. The existing gutters do not need to be replaced.
Yes. All downspouts we install discharge onto the property surface rather than into the city sewer or storm drain system, in compliance with the City of Toronto bylaw. If your existing system has underground drain connections, we cap them as part of the project.
