Downspout Repair in Toronto & the GTA

Century Aluminum repairs downspouts for Toronto homeowners dealing with blocked pipes, disconnected sections, and misdirected water that is heading straight toward their foundation instead of away from it. Serving Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville & the GTA. Free estimates available.

What Downspout Repairs Do We Handle?

A blocked, cracked, or misdirected downspout puts your foundation, landscaping, and basement at risk every time it rains. We fix the cause, not just the visible symptom.

    Blocked and Clogged Downspout Clearing

Leaves, seed pods, and compacted debris collect in elbows and underground connections. We clear blockages from the full pipe length, including lower elbows, and confirm they are clear before leaving.

    Disconnected and Loose Downspout Reattachment

Disconnected sections send water down the exterior wall rather than through the pipe. We reattach and re-secure with the correct brackets and fasteners for your wall substrate, and realign the full run.

Cracked, Bent, or Damaged Section Replacement

Sections damaged by ice or impact cannot be patched reliably. We replace with matching aluminum profile and colour, reconnected cleanly without visible mismatches or leak points.

    Downspout Extension and Redirection

If your downspout discharges too close to the foundation, we install extensions and elbows to redirect water at least 1.5 to 2 metres from the foundation perimeter.

    Mandatory Downspout Disconnection

The City of Toronto requires all residential downspouts to be disconnected from the city sewer system. If your downspout drains into an underground connection, you may be in violation. We disconnect from the standpipe, cap the connection, and redirect the outlet so water flows safely away from your home and your neighbour's property.

Why Choose Century Aluminum for Downspout Repair?

We Trace the Problem to the Source

Elbows at the top of the pipe are where blockages most often lodge and stay. We clear the full length, not just the accessible top section, and confirm clear flow from outlet to ground before finishing.

    We Know Toronto's Downspout Bylaw

Downspouts must not discharge into the city sewer system. We disconnect, cap, and redirect correctly to comply with the City of Toronto bylaw, and ensure water drains safely without creating icing hazards on your walkway.

Part of Your Full Eavestrough System

A downspout repair that ignores gutter pitch, outlet position, and foundation drainage grade often misses the reason it failed. We check the full picture in the same visit.

Quick Downspout Repair Turnaround When Possible

We stock standard downspout profiles and colors. Clearing, reattachment, and single-section replacement are typically completed in one visit.

    Signs Your Downspout Needs Repair

    • Gutters overflowing even after cleaning: Downspout below is blocked – water has nowhere to go
    • Water running down the exterior wall below the gutter: A disconnected joint sending water down the face of the building
    • Pooling or soft ground near the foundation: Downspout discharging too close to the house or outlet is blocked
    • Visible cracks, dents, or separated joints on the pipe: Damaged sections letting water escape mid-run
    • Downspout rattling or visibly detached from the wall: Loose brackets failing and getting worse with every wind and ice event

    Century Aluminum Review & Testimonials

    Glenn Teddy
Century put up my new eavestrough with the double protection leaf guard and here are my opinions 1) the sales rep (who gave me the quote) is the same person that did the installation and both times I dealt with him he was very pleasant and right on time 2) they (Gary and his assistant) did an amazing job and they put the downspouts exactly where I wanted them 3) there was no mess in my yard afterwards - they took all the old gutter with them. 4) the job was done very quickly. They arrived at promptly at 9:00 am and left just after 2:00 pm Personally I would recommend them to anybody that is interested in replacing their eavestrough I am very pleased with their service. Thank You Gary and Century Aluminum Glenn
    Jonathan Gee
Century Aluminum installed aluminum soffits, facias and evestroughs on our 60 year old home in 2021. They did a great job and we were very satisfied with the result. A heavy wind storm this past weekend blew off one of the trim pieces. I contacted Gary and within a day he was at the house, reinstalled the trim piece and even removed leaves from the gutters - all at no charge (even though the warranty had expired). We were very impressed and would not hesitate to recommend Century Aluminum to anyone.
    Katherine Filippou
I had an excellent experience with Century Aluminum. From the very beginning, Gary was professional, courteous, and incredibly efficient. He kept me informed throughout the process, stuck to the timeline, and the quality of work was top-notch. I especially appreciated how clean the work area was kept, and the attention to detail. I’d absolutely recommend Century Aluminum to anyone looking for high-quality exterior renovations.

Frequently Asked Questions About Downspout Repair in Toronto

Why is water overflowing from my gutters if they are clean?

A blocked downspout. Even with a clean gutter channel, a clog in the downspout elbow or underground connection backs up and causes overflow. We flush the full pipe length to confirm flow from top to discharge point.

Downspouts must be disconnected from the sanitary and combined sewer system and redirected to drain onto the property surface. Homes with older underground connections may be non-compliant. We disconnect, cap, and redirect in compliance with city guidelines.

Yes. Downspouts are a separate component. If your eavestroughs are sound but the downspout is blocked, cracked, or misdirected, we fix the downspout without touching the gutter system.

The City of Toronto recommends at least 4 to 6 feet, flowing away from the house and away from neighbouring properties. Where the grade slopes toward the house, a longer extension or splash pad may be needed.

Bracket failure from freeze-thaw cycling, ice load bending the connection points, or brackets never properly fastened into the wall substrate. We replace failed brackets with the correct hardware for your wall material.
