What Does Our Downspout Installation Service Include?

A downspout is only effective if it is correctly sized, properly positioned, and directs water far enough away from your foundation. We assess the full drainage picture before installing anything.

    New Downspout Installation

We install downspouts as part of a complete eavestrough setup or as a standalone addition to an existing gutter system. Every pipe is sized for the roof area it drains, positioned at the right points along the roofline, and secured to the wall with the correct brackets for your exterior cladding material.

    Additional Downspout Installation

Many GTA homes have too few downspouts for their roof footprint, causing gutters to overflow at the midpoint between outlets during heavy rain. We assess the load on each run and add downspouts where needed to balance water volume across the full eavestrough system.

    Downspout Positioning and Outlet Relocation

A downspout in the wrong position discharges water in the wrong place. We relocate outlets away from garage doors, walkways, basement windows, and areas where ice creates hazards in winter, and redirect them to where water can safely drain away from the house, where possible.

    Downspout Extensions and Splash Pads

Where the discharge point is too close to the foundation, we install rigid or flexible extensions to carry water further from the house, along with splash pads where needed to prevent soil erosion at the outlet.

Century Aluminum - Downspout Installation Specialists in Toronto & the GTA

Family-owned, 15+ years installing eavestrough and downspout systems across Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, and the GTA. Downspout installation is part of every eavestrough job we do, so we understand how pipe sizing, outlet positioning, and drainage grade all work together. Every installation is backed by our 3-year service warranty.

Choose Century Aluminum & Fix It Properly the First Time

A downspout installed in the wrong location or at the wrong angle can send water directly toward your foundation. Precision matters here.

Downspout Installation in Toronto, Mississauga & the GTA

Missing or undersized downspouts send water over the edge of your gutters and straight down to your foundation. Get the drainage picture right with a free estimate from Century Aluminum.

Why Choose Century Aluminum for Downspout Installation?

    Sized for Your Roof Area

Downspout diameter and the number of outlets needed depends on the total roof surface draining into each run. We calculate this before installing so the system handles peak GTA rainfall without overflowing.

    Positioned to Protect the Foundation

We place outlets away from basement windows, entryways, and low-grade areas where water would pool near the footings. Where the grade slopes toward the house, we extend the discharge point further out.

    Compliant with Toronto's Downspout Bylaw

All downspouts we install discharge onto the property surface, not into the city sewer system, in compliance with the City of Toronto's mandatory downspout disconnection bylaw. We cap any existing underground connections as part of the installation. In some cases, exemptions may apply depending on property conditions.

Integrated with Your Full Eavestrough System

Downspouts work as part of a system. We check gutter pitch, outlet placement, and ground drainage together so the whole setup directs water away from your home correctly from the first rainstorm.

Signs Your Home Needs Additional or New Downspouts

    • Gutters overflowing mid-run during heavy rain: Not a blockage — the single downspout cannot drain the volume fast enough.
    • Water pooling near the foundation after rain: Existing downspouts discharging too close to the house or at a low point in the grade.
    • No downspout on a section of eavestrough: Some older Toronto and subdivision homes have long gutter runs with only one outlet at the far end, which is undersized for the roof area.
    • Downspout discharging onto a walkway or driveway: Creates ice hazards in winter and directs water toward the house rather than away from it.
    • New eavestrough installation: Every new gutter system needs correctly positioned and sized downspouts installed as part of the complete setup.

Gary was recommended by a friend, and he did a great job putting new siding on our house. Very professional, reasonable price, and easy to work with. He provided lots of options, answered all of my questions, and paid attention to the finer details, which shows he takes pride in his work. He even took some of the scrap that I had sitting around after some demolition I had done in preparation for Gary and team. I would absolutely recommend Gary to anyone who needs siding or aluminum work.

We used Gary and his team to replace the original, 30-year-old eavestroughs on our home with a better, modern system. His quote was good, he showed up exactly when promised, and did a great job. We will use Century again if we need more work done. Thanks Gary!

Gary was great to work with through the entire process. I reached out for a quote and Gary was quick turning that around and was really helpful in answering all my questions. When it came time to do the work, he walked me through the work he would be doing in detail. The new eavestroughs look amazing, they did such a great job! I'd happily hire Gary and team again.

Gary did an outstanding job repairing my eavestroughs, and I am completely happy with the results. His communication was fast and clear from the start, keeping me informed every step of the way and even fit me in earlier when he had an opening. He took the time to offer different options to fix the issue and helped me choose the best path forward. The quote was transparent with no hidden surprises, and the work itself was finished quickly and effectively. Most importantly, after a recent heavy rain, I can confirm there is no leaking at all. I strongly recommend Gary to anyone needing eavestrough repairs and would hire him again. Five stars.

We had an excellent experience with Gary from Century Aluminum. A smallish job needed to be done redirecting a downspout. Gary explained options, including cost effectiveness, and booked that job relatively quickly between their larger commitments.

Very pleased with the professionalism, workmanship, and responsiveness of Gary and his team. They completed the work exactly as requested and quoted, and I would bring them back for another job in a heartbeat. They corrected the pitch of my eavestroughs using new material and strategically repositioned the downspouts to address a longstanding drainage problem. I now feel much more confident that my property is better protected from future water issues.

I recently had Century Aluminum come out to reinstall a fallen fascia panel and seal the window capping on the sides of my home. From start to finish, the experience was excellent. They were prompt in responding to my inquiry and came in at a fair price. What really stood out was their honesty — they used the existing materials rather than pushing unnecessary replacements, which I genuinely appreciated. It's refreshing to deal with a company that puts the customer's best interests first rather than upselling at every opportunity. The team was friendly and professional throughout, and the work was done well. I'd have no hesitation recommending Century Aluminum to anyone in the Toronto area looking for reliable, customer-focused exterior work.

Gary was extremely informative and patient when he dropped by for quote and that was one reason I went with them instead of the others we got a quote from. The job was done with precision and patience and Gary and his team were quite polite and helpful. They pointed out and helped resolve some of the other issues that weren't in the other contract either. Good service, good experience.

Frequently Asked Questions About Downspout Installation in Toronto

How many downspouts does my home need?

It depends on the length and pitch of each gutter run and the total roof area draining into it. As a general rule, most residential gutter runs need one downspout for every 30 feet of eavestrough. Longer runs, homes with complex rooflines, or properties with flat or low-pitched roofs may need more. We assess this before installing and make recommendations.

Upgraded residential downspouts in the GTA are 3×3 inches or 3×4 inches. The right size depends on the volume of water your roof sheds and the length of the gutter run. Undersized downspouts cause gutters to overflow even when clean. We specify the correct size for your roof before installation.

Away from the foundation, away from walkways and driveways where ice forms in winter, and away from your neighbour’s property when possible. The City of Toronto recommends discharging at least 4 to 6 feet from the foundation onto a permeable surface. We position every outlet to meet this requirement when possible.

Yes. Adding an outlet to an existing gutter run is straightforward when the gutter profile is in good condition. We cut the outlet, install the drop outlet fitting, and run the new downspout down the wall to the correct discharge point. The existing gutters do not need to be replaced.

Yes. All downspouts we install discharge onto the property surface rather than into the city sewer or storm drain system, in compliance with the City of Toronto bylaw. If your existing system has underground drain connections, we cap them as part of the project.
